Unfortunately, there’s isn’t much to report on the Big Stick front as warm temps seem to have slowed the chase for big fish. Hopefully, we’ll see an uptick in these entries as summer moves along.

RSFF General Meeting
Monday, July 13th
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library
9200 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA
Topic: Northshore Riverwatch with Matthew Allen
Join us on Monday, July 13, for the RSFF July General Meeting featuring Matthew Allen, Executive Director of Northshore Riverwatch.
Northshore Riverwatch is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, conserving, and restoring the rivers and floodplains of Louisiana's Florida Parishes. As a full-time advocate for the region's waterways, the organization works to balance responsible development with environmental stewardship while promoting increased public access and recreational opportunities.
Whether you enjoy fly fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, or simply spending time on the river, Matthew's presentation will provide valuable insight into the challenges facing our local waterways and the work being done to protect them. He'll also discuss why increasing public use and appreciation of our rivers is one of the most effective ways to ensure their long-term conservation.
Join us for an informative evening and learn how healthy rivers benefit anglers, outdoor enthusiasts, wildlife, and our communities for generations to come.

For those members wishing to attend remotely, a separate email will be sent the morning of meeting with log-in instructions.
Wednesday, July 15th
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Rally Cap Brewing
11212 Pennywood Ave, Baton Rouge, LA
Featured Pattern: TBD
Join us for this month’s Flies & Flights at Rally Cap Brewing, on Wednesday, July 15th, from 7-9pm. We haven’t settled on a pattern just yet, but I’m sure we’ll have something cooked up before the date rolls around.
Whether you’re a seasoned tier or new to the vise, come hang out, sip some craft brews, and tie a fly with the community.
F&F is an independent collective of tiers just looking to tie and enjoy a social gathering with some fine brews. While not affiliated with Red Stick, it was hatched by a few club members as an alternative to a traditional meeting environment. Everyone is welcome!
RSFF Fly Tying Meeting
Monday, July 27th
7:00pm - until
Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library
9200 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA
Featured Tyer: Conner Lewing
Featured Fly: Chip Shot Crab
Join us on Monday, July 27, as RSFF member Conner Lewing demonstrates how to tie the Chip Shot Crab, one of his go-to patterns for targeting redfish and black drum along the Gulf Coast.
Designed to fish effectively in the heat of summer and in stained or murky water, the Chip Shot Crab gets down quickly without excessive weight while presenting a bold silhouette that draws strikes from cruising fish. Combining marabou, UV materials, rubber legs, and a durable crab profile, it's a versatile pattern every coastal fly angler should have in their box.
Whether you're preparing for your next marsh trip or looking to expand your saltwater tying skills, this is a pattern you won't want to miss. Join us for an evening of tying and fellowship!
As usual, beginners and guests are welcome! Materials are provided. Bring your vise and tools. For those without tools or vise, the club has some for use during this session.
