Our next monthly fly tying session will be at Cabelas in Gonzales. Time is 7:00pm. Bring your tying tools if you have some. If not, the club has a few sets for use. Materials are provided.
This month we'll be tying the Fool's Gold Crab Fly. This fly was created by fly fishing guide Johnny Miller for sightcasting to redfish in shallow water. It has the key ingredients that make for a great redfish fly, including: a long tail, contrasting colors, gold flash, and lead eyes to get down to the bottom quickly. Cast it out, let it sink, then retrieve in short, measured strips along the bottom.
As always, beginners and other visitors are welcome!
