Looking to join other flycasters for some fishing fun and comradery? Next Saturday, May 21, Red Stick members have the option to do that either freshwater or saltwater.
That weekend is the annual RSFF Spring "Catch-n-Eat" marsh outing along the Highway 1 corridor. Book your own lodging, fish your favorite spot, then join in on Saturday evening at Boudreaux Condeaux for a group feast featuring fried fresh-caught fish, shrimp, veggies, french fries, salad, bread and desserts. Bring your own lawn chair and beverages. Attendees are asked to contribute at least a few filets to the meal (but please no bull reds or bull drum). The gathering starts at 5:00pm with dinner around 7:00pm. Please check with Randy Leonpacher if you wish to attend.
Also that Saturday, the Fin-Addict Fly Fishers of Houma will hold their 3rd annual "2-Fly Bream Tournament" at Lamar-Dixon Park in Gonzales. Registration begins at 8:00am with fishing time from 8:30am to 1:00pm. There is no cost, but participants must members of a recognized fly fishing club. Longest cumulative length of 3 bream of any species will be crowned winner. The event is as much fun and a learning experience as it is competitive!
