March 26 fly tying

Our next monthly fly tying session will be at the Goodwood Library at 7711 Goodwood Boulevard, meeting room Conference Room B on the 2nd floor.  Time is 7:00pm.

This month we will honor the late Lefty Kreh by tying his Deceiver.  The fly was created by Lefty in the late 1950s as a baitfish pattern for Chesapeake Bay stripers. When Lefty moved to south Florida in the early 1960s, he began using it for a wide variety of saltwater fish.  It's reported to have caught over 100 species to date.  In 1991, the Deceiver was honored by the U.S. Postal Service with a stamp of the fly.

Bring your tying tools if you have some. If not, the club has a few sets for use. Materials are provided.

As always, beginners are welcome!

March 12th meeting

Red Stick Fly Fishers general meeting
Monday, March 12, 2018
7:00pm
LA Wildlife and Fisheries building, 2000 Quail Dr, Baton Rouge

We'll discuss the Grand Isle Fly Fishing Weekend for this year. Last year, we were forced to cancel after a booking error had occured and we were unable to find an alternative site for that weekend. It led to much feedback about the trip in general, and possible relocation. We'll discuss those options. Also: fishing reports, upcoming activities and more.

The public is welcome! Hope to see everyone there.
