We will be tying Tube Flies on Monday Oct. 22nd at 7pm at Cabela's in Gonzales, LA. Come out and join us. Materials are provided and tools are available to borrow.

August 27th fly tying

Our next monthly fly tying session will be Monday, August 27, at Bass Pro Shops in Denham Springs.  Time is 7:00pm. Bring your tying tools if you have some. If not, the club has a few sets for use. Materials are provided.

As always, beginners and other visitors are welcome!

This month, Glen 'Catch' Cormier will share some of the exciting new products exhibited at the Fly Tackle Dealer / ICAST trade show in July.  His slide presentation will cover fly fishing, kayak fishing and popular accessories. He'll also share the "State of the Sport" report giving the latest stats and trends in fly fishing.

Also on the agenda: Fall Concordia trip, National Hunting Fishing Day, Rio Rodeo and fishing reports. The public is welcome!

Join us at the Contraband Fly Fishing Expo

Our friends in the Contraband Fly Casters (Lake Charles) are holding their annual fly fishing expo this year in mid-July. The event will showcase Pat Cohen, one of the most recognized names in fly tying, and a master of deer hair flies.

In addition to Pat, some of the top fly tiers in the Gulf Coast region will be demonstrating their favorite patterns.  That includes nationally-recognized realistic tier Fred Hannie who will be at the Copic booth. Several of the region's top fly casting instructors - such as Jay Clark and Jeff Ferguson - will be on hand.  There are programs, exhibits and demonstrations, as well as raffles to benefit Project Healing Waters and Reel Recovery.

We will be fly tying at 7pm at Goodwood Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. We will be tying the Senko Worm.
