RSFF Casting Clinic
Saturday, May 10th

8:30 am - till
Perkins Road Community Park
7122 Perkins Rd, Baton Rouge, LA

Want to improve your casting before that next big trip?  Join RSFF Casting Chair, Felipe Martinez, for this month’s RSFF Casting Clinic at Perkins Road Community Park.  The clinic begins Saturday, May 10th at 8:30AM and is a great opportunity to learn some basics or bring you casting game to the next level.

With easy access to the Perkins Road Park pond and nearby Dawson Creek, you’ll even have the opportunity to wet a line once you have your casting stroke down!

RSFF General Meeting
Monday, May 12th

7:00pm - 9:00pm
Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library
9200 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA
Topic: Aquatic Invasives in Louisiana with Rob Bourgeois

Join us for our next Red Stick Fly Fishers General Meeting on Monday, May 12th, where we’ll welcome Rob Bourgeois, a fisheries biologist with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF).  Rob will present an important and timely talk on aquatic invasive species in Louisiana—how they spread, their impact on native fish populations and habitats, and what anglers like us can do to help protect our waters.

A note regarding our new general meeting location: when you arrive at the Bluebonnet Library, please enter through the main entrance, the club will have signs up directing you where to go.

For those wishing to attend remotely, a separate email will be sent the morning of meeting with log-in instructions.

Spring 2025 Saltwater Catch & Eat
Friday, May 16th - Sunday, May 18th

Where: Leeville, Louisiana

RSFF Saltwater Chair, Randy Leonpacher, is organizing this annual event. While not as popular as the Fall Catch & Eat, there's always plenty of enough fish caught for the Saturday evening fish / shrimp fry. And for plenty fishing stories to be shared.  See the original email sent to members, or email Randy to be placed on the updates mailing list if you have any interest in this event.

Boudreaux's Motel in Leeville is currently booked up but we have a waiting list for folks wanting to stay there.  Otherwise, Galliano Inn in Golden Meadow is probably the next best option on a place to stay.

**Conservation Chair, Robinson Almeida will also be hosting this month’s Sack Up for Cleanwater in conjunction with this event.  The cleanup is planned for Saturday, May 17th.  Please contact Robinson for more details.**

Flies & Flights
Wednesday, May 21st

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Rally Cap Brewing
11212 Pennywood Ave, Baton Rouge, LA
Featured Pattern: TBD

Join us at Rally Cap Brewing on Wednesday, May 21st, for this month’s Flies & Flights brewery night.  While we don’t have a specific pattern picked out just yet, it is sure to be a great time as the gang whips up some of their favorite creations and swap stories about the recent club trip to Leeville.

We’ll have tools, vises, and materials available, so don’t hesitate to join us if you’re looking to learn!

F&F is an independent collective of tiers just looking to tie and enjoy a social gathering with some fine brews. While not affiliated with Red Stick, it was hatched by a few club members as an alternative to a traditional meeting environment. Everyone is welcome!

RSFF Fly Tying Meeting
Monday, May 27th

7:00pm - until
Orvis Baton Rouge, 7601 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge
Featured Patterns: Baby Fat Minnow

Join us Tuesday, May 27th, as Orvis Fishing Manager, Conner Lewing, leads us through a tutorial of the Baby Fat Minnow.  A great springtime bass pattern, the Baby Fat Minnow is a must have for spring pond hopping.

As usual, beginners and guests are welcome.  Tools, vises and materials available for use during this session for those looking to learn.  Come early and get some retail therapy in at our Orvis sponsor!
