October 13 meeting - "Wanted Dead Or Alive : Aquatic Invasive Species"
For the October program, we will hear from Brac Salyers, Aquatic Nuisance Species Coordinator with the Inland Fisheries Division of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Also know as invasive species, aquatic nuisance species come in all shapes and sizes and include plants, fishes, snails and even waterfleas. Their populations frequently get out of control and overwhelm native species impacting valuable fishing waters. Brac will discuss the many aspects of aquatic invasive species, the problems they cause, methods of control and regulations to prevent their spread. Don't miss this interesting and important program.
October 27 Fly Tying

Fly Fishing 101 postponed
Due to Hurricane Ike and lingering aftermath of Hurricane Gustav, the Fly Fishing 101 clinic scheduled for September 13 was postponed. Check back for a new date TBA shortly.
Lake Concordia trip still GO!
Our annual fall trip to Ferriday is still on for October 11. According to the district biologists in east-central Louisiana, larger lakes there did not suffer fish kills as did some of the smaller waters such as Bayou Cocodrie and Lake Jesse. Concordia and St. John, and especially Old River-Vidalia which is connected to the Mississippi River at high water, should be fishing good for this trip.
